FREEWHEELING

Jan and Ruth’s new book – ‘Freewheeling – how to let go a little, love a lot and discover life in all its fullness’ is a ‘must have’ for every woman.

Although it was written following requests for a book which could be given to those who as yet have little understanding of the Christian faith, there’s plenty in there for everyone.

Not intended as a study guide, it’s an easy read, in journal style, looking at the issues which face all of us, with plenty of space to record our own responses. Taking the life coaching ‘wheel of life’, this journal considers how we can all make improvements in our lifestyles and ultimately find the life in all its fullness which Jesus promised.

‘Life in all its fullness’ is easy to say and it sounds great, but what does it really mean? If someone wanted to experience and inspire it, what would the ingredients be? Jan and Ruth have unpacked this well-known saying with a refreshing, light-hearted approach. With shared insights from their experience interspersed with quotes and a variety of interactive exercises, they have created a journal, which both entertains and challenges, and invites you on a journey of self-discovery. It’s a great read for those with no faith at all but there’s plenty in there for Christians too.

Each chapter ends with a ‘Talkback’, from Hazel Gaydon, which provides points to ponder for the individual or a framework for a group discussion. Fiona Castle says, ‘Eminently readable. I cannot imagine anyone not benefiting from and being challenged by its wisdom.’

Buy one for everyone you love and treat yourself too. We’ve already heard from ‘Activators’ who plan to include the book in a gift wrapped basket of chocolates, champagne or bath bombs ready to give to friends for Christmas and birthdays.

'Freewheeling' is available from the Activate office for the special price of £7.50.

UNLOCKING THE DOOR

If you ask Christians how they came to faith, the answer generally hinges around one friend whose conversation sowed a seed of curiosity, or who invited them along to an event, or who demonstrated Jesus’ love in their life – but the friendship came first.

Yet it is all too possible for Christians to become so involved with their church life that they have no time to build the relationships outside church, which are so important. This book suggests a wide range of natural, ‘cringe-free’ activities to enable Christians to meet their neighbours, work colleagues and friends. Activate has assembled a massive catalogue of useful information from a variety of well researched and valid sources, and put them together in a highly informative, visual format. It is easy to read and presents the information in a creative, colourful and flexible style.

The ideas are taken from the resource bank operated by Activate, but most of them are not specifically for women. They are very low-key and informal: designed not to culminate in a full presentation of the gospel, but rather as ways of building relationships in a relaxed atmosphere, with opportunities for conversation on many topics, which may include faith.

Each idea comes with a list of any resources with contact addresses if necessary. Many include a short ‘action replay’ – an account of how they have actually worked in practice.

There is a wealth of creative ideas inside this book, helpfully ‘filed’ into a house.
The collection is comprehensive yet there is plenty of scope for individuals to take the outline ideas and shape them to fit their own personal circumstances and personality.

'Unlocking the Door' is available from the Activate office for the special price of £5.99.

A PowerPoint presentation, which can be used alongside the material in the book, is available at a cost of £5. Click the button to order your book, presentation or both. (Orders will be posted out with an invoice).

If you would like a member of the Activate team to come and lead an event for you please contact the office.
